This course is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of management accounting. It complements concepts covered in Financial Accounting courses by focusing on the accounting functions internal to the organization. Management Accounting is concerned with the data and techniques used in the decision making process. This includes the analysis and accounting for costs, exposure to cost behaviour (cost-volume-profit), the contribution approach, variance analysis, differential cash flows, and budgeting. The course will also discuss the most recent developments such as activity-based costing.

The Centre for Social and Sustainable Innovation at UVic’s Gustavson School of Business is hosting the GreenTech Exchange to connect Vancouver Island entrepreneurs who are interested in green technology with like-minded researchers. The artists of the Fired Up! Contemporary Works in Clay collective welcome you to "Celebrate the Salish Sea" at their 28th annual exhibition.

Potters who shape clay are in turn shaped by the place in which they live. The Fired Up! 2012 show and sale features that place – the complex, fragile and beautiful home of these artists in the ecosystem of the Salish Sea.

You are invited to join ten of the Fired Up! collective members and invited guest artists Samantha Dickie and Cindy Gibson for this lively and varied exhibition of ceramic art, which is the result of a year of creating individual interpretations of the Salish Sea.

Also at the show: the official book-launch of the first monograph of the life and work of influential B.C. potter Walter Dexter.

The Land Conservancy invites visitors to tour the Ross Bay Villa, 1490 Fairfield Road (opposite Ross Bay Cemetery), on the first Saturday of each month. The dining room and parlour are finished and furnished to 1860s style. Floor coverings are being meticulously hand-decorated.

Alitis Investment Counsel is hosting Kevin O’Leary of the hit CBC television show Dragons' Den for two events to raise funds for the Campbell River, Comox Valley, and Victoria community foundations.

O’Leary, one of the most opinionated and outspoken "Dragons," is recognized for his entrepreneurial vision, keen investment savvy, and frank, no-emotion approach to all things business. Expect his personal views on investment fund management, and how to optimize income on your investments while controlling risk. Also, look forward to some entertainment and a lot of laughs!

On June 11, O'Leary will appear at the Crown Isle Golf Resort in Courtenay at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and are available as of May 14 online and at the Sid William Theatre box office. $25 from each ticket sold will go to the Campbell River & Comox Valley Community Foundation.
