Langham Court Theatre is proud to present five-time Tony Award-winning Canadian musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone with book by Bob Marin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. Directed by Langham Court veteran Roger Carr (The History Boys, The Laramie Project), musical direction by Donna Williams, choreography by Jacques Lemay, set design by Bill Adams, and lighting design by Karrie Wolfe.The story begins in the shabby Manhattan apartment of a quirky, lonely gentleman known only as “Man in Chair.” He speaks directly to the audience about life, love, and his favourite pasttime, live theatre. He invites the audience to listen along with him as he plays the album of his loved (fictional) 1928 musical comedy from musical theatre’s golden age called The Drowsy Chaperone. As the needle falls, the fourth wall shatters and the musical comes to life around him.
